Most Popular NFT Collections

Of all the NFTs in existence, there’s some that have clearly risen to the top. Certain collections have trading volumes of over 100,000 ETH, as well as recognition from major news outlets. In the past year or so, certain NFT drops and collections have gone viral, whereas others have built a steady customer base from the ground up. Regardless of how they rose to popularity, every collection mentioned here is incredibly successful. In this article, we’re going to be going over the most popular NFT collections to date, what they are, and how their trading volumes compare.

CryptoPunks

If you’re at all familiar with the NFT scene, chances are, you’ve heard of CryptoPunks. The trading volume is over 500,000 ETH, with the average price per NFT in the collection being around 32 ETH. This project was extremely influential in the nFT market and kickstarted major growth in the public eye. This collection consists of 10,000 cyber punk inspired characters, and has been covered by media outlets such as The New York Times.

Bored Ape Yacht Club

The Bored Ape Yacht Club is another collection of 10,000 NFTs, each having a unique character. Its current trading volume is nearing 200,000 ETH, and it is one of the most well-known collections in existence thus far. In mid 2021, 107 items within the collection were sold for a total of 24.4 million USD through a Sotheby’s online auction.

Rarible

Rarible is a well-known NFT marketplace, but it also has the capability of minting tokens. Because of this, Rarible NFTs can easily be traded using OpenSea, as well as on Rarible itself. The overall trading volume of this “collection” has almost reached 100,000 ETH, making it one of the most popular collections in existence.

CryptoKitties

Not only is CryptoKitties an NFT collection, it’s also a blockchain driven game! Before there was CryptoPunks, there was CryptoKitties. After it was created in 2017, the game got so popular that it congested the Ethereum network! It also helped gain mainstream attention for the topic of NFTs as a whole. As of now, this collection’s trading volume is around 70,000 ETH.

Meebits

The Meebits collection was created by a generative algorithm, and by the same people who made CryptoPunks. The collection contains 20,000 different units, and overall has a trading volume of nearly 70,000 ETH.

Mutant Ape Yacht Club

In order to create this collection, characters from the Bored Ape Yacht Club were exposed to a “mutant serum.” As of now, this collection contains over 15,000 items and has a trading volume of around 90,000 ETH. Although this collection is still extremely popular, it still only has less than half of the trading volume of the Bored Ape collection.

Loot (For Adventurers)

Loot (For Adventurers) is an NFT collection centered around randomized gear whose “stats, images, and other functionality are intentionally omitted for others to interpret,” according to the creators. Despite being a fairly recent project, its trading volume has almost reached 70,000 ETH.

Decentraland

Decentraland is a virtual world in which users are able to purchase pieces of land, and do whatever they want with their section. It’s notable for being the first digital world created and owned by all of its users, and is well known within the NFT community. As of now, it has a total trading volume of almost 60,000 ETH.
